The Slovak Republic Strategy for Sustainable Development


Sustainable Development is contained at the legal system of the Slovak Republic as the such development, which should hold to the present and future generations  the possibility to discharge their basic living needs and at the same time it does not cut the variety of nature and preserve the natural functions of ecosystem.

The year 2002 has been for the member states of UN recommended as the horizont for elaborating of the National Strategies for Sustainable Development. On the basis of these recommendation the Slovak Republic National Strategy for Sustainable Development has been elaborated.

Within the mentioned document the new possibilities of the coincidence of the economic and social development of the Slovak Republic was sought at the all levels of management with the present security of Sustainable Development.

In this connectivity the aims of project was concentrated for creating and approving the sociable accepted  and profitable  National Strategy , created in participant of all groups of community.

The main challenges for the sustainble development of the Slovak Republic in the field of good governance are following:

  • to strengthen the position of regions and municipalities,
  • to optimise the system of public administration,
  • to increase the quality and efficiency of public administration,
  • to deal with availability of basic local public services to th general public,
  • to increase internal and external security,

By enforcement of Sustainable Development Strategy is necessary to conform with the principles and criterions sustainable development. For evaluating of the status and development  it is eligible to use  the Indicators of Sustainable Development.
